Nina's mother (ニーナの母, Nīna no haha) is the mother of Nina Drango. While staying at the Dragon village, she often reads the letters that her daughter send to her.

Appearance[]

She has the same vermillion eyes and short pink hair like her daughter. She has a slightly large and round build. Although she is generally portrayed as having short hair much like her daughter, one flashback showed her with long hair.

Personality[]

Nina's mother is a very gentle and loving woman who cares deeply for the well being of her daughter, Nina. She expresses gratitude towards Jeanne d'Arc for treating Nina with kindness. When Nina leaves for the land of the gods, Nina's mother wishes for her safety.

Plot[]

Nina's mother lived in a neighboring village to the one that housed dragon folk. She eventually met and married one of the dragon folks and moved into the other village. With her husband, she bore a daughter named Nina.

When Bahamut was awakened, Nina's mother watched as her husband ran back into their burning village hoping to save as many as he could. Her husband died as a result of his sacrifice and Nina's mother was left to care for their daughter alone.

Years later, Nina leaves the village to find work in the capital city. Nina's mother receives letters of Nina's adventures. When Nina finally returns with Jeanne d'Arc in tow, Nina's mother notes how kind Jeanne is to her daughter. While Nina is sleeping one night, Jeanne finds herself awake and Nina's mother offers to talk to her.

Nina's mother reveals what had happened to Nina's father and mentions how the trauma of losing Nina's father causes Nina to transform and go "a bit wild" whenever she sees a man like him. While Jeanne feels guilty for playing some part in the destruction of the village, Nina's mother silences her by thanking her for being so kind to Nina.

The next morning, Nina's mother watches her daughter and Jeanne d'Arc get on the back of the transformed Village Elder. The two women depart to go to the land of the gods. Nina's mother cheerfully wishes them good luck and a safe journey.

After Bahamut's third defeat, Nina writes her mother another letter which talks about how all her friends are doing.

Trivia[]

  • She is currently the only known human to marry a dragon.
