Uriel (ウリエル, Urieru) was one of the four known archangels.
Appearance[]
As an angel of grace and fury, Uriel is clothed in holy silk with a grand halo that constantly shines forth from behind her. Her archangel status is illustrated through her wings counting six in total. Red and pink are her colors, with snow white armor crafted by power words from the gods.
Personality[]
Uriel lacks any trust in humans and considers it unwise to relay important tasks to them. She went as far as to blame Michael for any mishap that occurred as a result of his trust in Jeanne d'Arc. Like her fellow archangels however, Uriel was not above doing her best to prevent the end of the world.
Plot[]
Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis[]
When Gabriel learns that the God Key has been stolen, she is reassured by Michael that the humans he sent will retrieve it in due time. Uriel disagrees with him and insists that trusting the humans is an unwise decision.
Once the humans do capture the thief, Amira, and bring her to the royal castle, Uriel joins Michael and Raphael in warning the king of the threat of Bahamut's revival caused by Amira's actions. She soon returns to the Land of the gods with the other two and warns Michael of retribution should something go wrong from now on.
Uriel later assists Raphael and Michael in holding Bahamut's weakening seal. However, the three are approached by Jeanne d'Arc, who has transformed into a demon and seeks to take revenge on the gods for apparently abandoning her.
Uriel and Michael witness Raphael's death at the hands of Jeanne, who used the divine weapon Précieuse to slay the angel. When Michael warns Uriel of Jeanne heading towards her, Uriel tries to defend herself but does not dare let go of the seal. Michael warns her again and Uriel glances down, shocked to see only Jeanne's flying demon. Looking back up, Uriel has no time to react and Jeanne swiftly kills her by slicing her in half.
Uriel disintegrates a moment later, much to Michael's sorrow.
Powers & Abilities[]
As an archangel, Uriel was exceptionally powerful and alongside fellow archangels Raphael and Michael, she was entrusted with holding Bahamut's seal. She wielded her own staff.
Uriel demonstrated her ability to fire projectiles while trying to fend off an incoming Jeanne. She did this with one hand.
In Lore[]
Uriel's name translates as "God is my light". In lore, Uriel is actually an Archangel of wisdom and wind. He is associated with the month of September. Uriel is often identified as a archangel as well as an angel of repentance. He "stands at the Gate of Eden with a fiery sword," or as the angel who "watches over thunder and terror."
